Students learn about issues on campus at NSO

Today marks day two of new student orientation; tomorrow will wrap up the events with convocation starting at 9 am in the Robert A. Peck Center theater.

“Our goal this year was to engage students in purposeful and fun activities from the moment they came to campus and I think we accomplished that,” said Mandy Tate, NSO director.

NSO continued with breakout sessions, followed by informational skits performed by student senator’s, resident adviser’s and student ambassador’s. The skits included how to be safe on campus, guidelines for resident halls and how to communicate with your roommate, getting involved in campus activities, issues with alcohol and sexually transmitted diseases.

“The past few days with our new students have been amazing,” Tate said. “We have had a lot of energy on campus and we are looking forward to a great year.”

NSO will end tomorrow with a tail gate party at 5 pm followed by the volleyball, Rustler versus Rocky Mountain College at 7 pm.

Classes officially start Aug. 31.
