Central Wyoming College’s cross country is gearing up for the fall season. Coach Al Lara has been recruiting new members of the team and has signed three students for the fall season; all will be incoming freshman.
Jessie Walker is from Douglas, Wyoming and was all conference for cross country. She was 44th in the state this year with a person record of 21:20 for a 5k. She is the first female runner to sign with CWC for the 2016 season. She signed her letter of intent on
“Jessie is a hard worker and good student,” Lara said. “She’s excited to join our team and we are excited she is joining CWC.”
Trenton Smith signed his letter of intent in January. He is a senior at Wright High School in Wright, Wyoming, where he was conference runner of the year for the 2A cross country 2015 season. His personal record in a 5k is 17:40. He will be studying biological science in the fall.
“Trenton will be a great addition to our cross country program 2016 season,” Lara said.
Tyler Ellicott signed his letter of intent in February. He is from Gilcrest, Colorado and goes to school at Valley High School. Tyler was a two time all conference runner, Patriot League 3A, the last two seasons and was fourth and eight in the conference. He has a personal record in the 5k of 17:41.
“Tyler will be a great addition to our program,” Lara said. “He has a hard work ethic and is a good student. He will be joining the filming program here and he is looking forward to it. We can’t wait to get him here for 2016 cross country season.
Jessica Stewart is a Riverton High School student with a 4.0 GPA. Stewart signed her letter of intent March 9. She will join CWC in the fall and will pursue a degree in elementary education.
“She will help our program; she is the real deal,” Coach Lara said.”She will continue to run 5k in cross-country, the only thing difference will be the competition.”
